Life is a romantic comedy. A rather cyclothymic one. Love is a social tragedy. A rather blind one. Monsters Turn Into Lovers reinvents the whole thing. With its delicate imagination, cinema takes the pulse of present day youngsters, swaying between the shitty life dogs and the wolves of passionate feelings. Yann Delattre shows an off-hand taste for beauty, a fool-proof narrative efficiency, at each scene a capacity to appeal to the devilish side of the human soul. Rom-com whose love is tender rather than Tinder, Monsters… tells us two things: filming love is still possible, but making love is even better.
